Every year, the American Library Association puts out a list of award-winning children’s books, authors, and illustrators. Winner in the Author category of the Coretta Scott King Book Award, which recognizes “an African American author of an outstanding book for children and young adults.”

Winner of the Pura Belpré Children’s Author Award, which honors “a Latinx writer and illustrator whose children’s books best portray, affirm and celebrate the Latino cultural experience.”
