New Art Exhibit on Display at FDL

Fondulac District Library is proud to announce a new exhibit on display for its ongoing Fine Arts at FDL program.

A collage series, The Art of Judith Koren Shanahan, will be on display through the end of the year. Shanahan uses acrylic paints, specialty papers, recycled ephemera, textures, and more to represent and interpret a multitude of subjects. Her professional art training began at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and continued at the Instituto de Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. She has exhibited locally, as well as in Rockford, and her pieces have been purchased by people across the country.

Due to the high cost and low patron usage of Zinio digital magazines, Fondulac District Library has chosen to discontinue its subscription to this service. National Friends of Libraries Week

National Friends of Libraries Week is October 16 to 22! Join us for a Meet and Greet on Wednesday, October 19, with giveaways, a drawing, buy one-get one book sale specials, and more. 3D Printing at the Library

Fondulac District Library is proud to announce its 3D printing service. 3D printing is the process of making a three dimensional object from a digital file. The object is created by laying down successive layers of plastic filament. Patrons can submit a design and have it printed for only $2! Learn more about the library’s 3D printing service here.

BiblioBoard – a Free eBook Resource

Check out BiblioBoard, a free eBook collection filled with classic literature! Browse the collection, compile a list of favorite titles, download content to read offline, and read with no wait time. All that’s required to create a free profile is a valid email address and a username and password of your choosing. Additionally, an app is available via Apple, Amazon, and the Google Play store. Books can also be read using any popular internet browser.

Voter Registration at the Library

You can register to vote at Fondulac District Library!

Registrants must be:
- U.S. citizens
- A resident of Illinois for 30 days prior to the election
- 18 years old by Election Day
Bring two valid forms of ID. One must have your current address.
The deadline to register at the library is October 11.
You can check your registration status by visiting elections.il.gov.

Career Transitions Workshop

In response to the recent additional local layoffs and in recognition that many members of the community are searching for new employment, Fondulac District Library is offering a tutorial for using its free Career Transitions resource on September 8 at 6 p.m. Career Transitions is an online resource that helps users to search and apply for jobs. It is accessible to any user on Fondulac District Library’s computers, or 24/7 with an Internet-connected computer or device and your Fondulac District Library card number. Visit the online research resources page to access Career Transitions and explore its features.

On October 11 at 3 p.m. the library is offering a resume workshop. Learn the important do’s and don’ts of resume writing, including how to format using templates. This workshop is for those who are just entering or returning to the workforce. Registration is now open, and you can sign up here.
