It’s Tax Time!

Fondulac District Library is a great resource during tax season!

Tax Preparation Assistance

AARP volunteers provide tax preparation assistance by appointment only on Wednesdays and Fridays, February 6 through April 12, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers can’t answer questions about rental property, farms, and small business. Call 699-3917 for an appointment. If you are unable to make on Wednesday and Friday mornings, several other local libraries are hosting the AARP Tax-Aide volunteers. Use the AARP Foundation’s Tax-Aide Locator to see the locations and schedules.

The Central Illinois Agency on Aging helps prepare Circuit Breaker forms on Wednesdays only, February 6 through April 10, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. No registration is required for the service.

Tax Forms

Our library is again participating in the Tax Form Outlet Program, but please be aware that we are still awaiting delivery of most federal and Illinois forms. Both the IRS and the Illinois Department of Revenue have explained that very limited supplies of tax forms and instructions will be available in print this year, and some IRS forms & instructions are still under revision due to recent legislation.

According to the IRS, “the production of some 2012 major tax products, including the Form 1040 and the Instructions for Form 1040, is impacted by the recent passage of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012.  At this time, we do not have an estimate as to when products will become available on IRS.gov or in print.”

For more information and links, please visit our tax resources page.
