Fondulac District Library provides Homebound Delivery Service to individuals who are unable to visit the library and have no way to pick up their materials from the library. Whether you’re unable to come to FDL because of a permanent or temporary condition, homebound delivery keeps our collection accessible, bringing you a variety of materials to keep you informed, entertained, and engaged! Please call 309-699-3917 for more information about services or to request an application.
Eligibility
Individuals must reside within district boundaries and be confined to their residence, either temporarily due to extended illness/convalescence or permanently due to disability, age, or other medical issue.
Application for Homebound Library Card
Applications are available online or at the library, or can be completed over the phone. Staff will explain service policies, procedures, and the homebound-use library card during the application approval process. Patrons receiving homebound services are not eligible to check out materials in-person from the library, but they may also apply for a separate library card to access the library’s digital collections (eBooks, audiobooks, etc.).
Borrowing Items
Materials can be checked out for two weeks. Some items may not be renewed (DVDs, magazines, items with holds, etc.), and no materials may be borrowed longer than six weeks total. Staff will help you select your materials, either by direct request or based on your interests and preferences.
Patrons are still responsible for materials that are lost or damaged while in their care.
Deliveries & Returns
Staff will deliver new material and pick up items to return every two weeks. Any changes to scheduled visits will be communicated to patrons. Staff will not enter private residences or provide other services to patrons.
Suspension and Termination of Service
The library has the right to suspend or terminate service to any patron who does not meet the terms and conditions of the service policy. Excessive late returns, loss, or damage of library materials may result in discontinuation of lending of specific types of materials or suspension or termination of homebound service.
Designated Borrower
Instead of receiving homebound delivery, eligible patrons may opt to designate a household or family member to pick up, deliver, and return materials on their behalf. Please contact the library for more information or an application for designated borrower service.
