Fondulac District Library houses a seed library in the Adult Services Department. This is a collection of various seeds that can be “borrowed” by community members and then planted. We encourage saving any seeds at the end of each season and donating them back to us so that we can restock our seed library. We believe in strengthening biodiversity, sharing, and sustainable seed saving by the community. Our mission is to create a self-sustaining collection of seeds that are ideal for our local growing conditions.
How to Use the FDL Seed Library:
- Pick out seed packets to take home. (Please limit to 5 per cardholder per year.)
- Fill out the form letting us know what you took & turn it in to the 2nd floor Information Desk.
- Plant the seeds in your garden & enjoy!
If you save seeds or have some extra to spare at the end of the season, please consider donating them back to help sustain the seed library!
How to Donate Seeds:
- Clean, dry, and save seeds from your heirloom variety vegetables, herbs, and flowers.
- Please label your donation or include your name/phone number, the variety of seed, and the year that it was harvested.
- Seeds from vegetables, herbs, flowers, and native plants will be accepted.
*Please note that FDL cannot guarantee the purity or germination rates of any seeds.
