Imagination Library

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library was launched in 1995 by The Dollywood Foundation, providing free books to children in Parton’s home area of Sevier County, Tennessee. The goal of the program is to inspire a love of books and reading among children. All books are selected by this international organization and are provided at no cost to participants.

Tazewell County’s Imagination Library program was organized in 2024 by supporters in our local libraries. Donations from local organizations and individuals cover postage costs associated with delivering the free books to individual homes.

Children must be under 5 years old and live in Tazewell County to register for Tazewell County's Imagination Library. Children can only be registered by a parent or guardian There is no charge to register or receive the books. Age-appropriate books are mailed directly to the homes of registered children each month, about eight to 10 weeks after their forms are received. The first book distributed is always the children’s classic, “The Little Engine That Could.”

If you have a child under age 5, but do not live in Tazewell County, your child may still be eligible to receive books through another affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. You may check availability of the program for your home address by clicking here.
